After a long wait, Overwatch 2 is finally launched with new heroes, maps, and various other gameplay features. Unlike previous titles, this game is free-to-play, while players can purchase a battle pass by spending a few bucks.
Developers have projected that Overwatch is going to win the “game of the year” award just like its predecessor. If you are not sure about the features of Overwatch 2, here is everything that you need to know before playing it.
Battle Pass
Overwatch 2 was released on October 4, featuring a seasoned model and each season features eighty different tiers. The season lasts for nine weeks, and each tier means new and theme-based content. To access this content, players have to purchase a battle pass.
There is a free battle pass with limited rewards. The paid battle pass can be purchased with one thousand Overwatch coins which are equal to ten bucks. The paid battle pass provides players with lots of new rewards such as a new hero and level fifty-five. Premium battle pass players get rewards of both free as well as paid battle pass.
Along with these rewards, there are a fifty percent experience points boost for premium battle pass owners. The battle pass for each season can be purchased before the season ends.
After the season ends, players can purchase the premium hero from that season from the shop as well as earn it by completing weekly challenges.
Weekly Challenges
If you have missed a battle pass but want to get the hero, you can get it for free by completing Overwatch Weekly Challenges. There is a separate menu for these challenges in the game’s UI.
The menu shows details about the rewards of each challenge so you can complete the desired challenge according to your needs. Challenges are similar to achievements, as you have to complete certain tasks to win rewards.
These challenges include winning a specific number of games or playing a specific number of games with a specific hero, etc. The rewards for these challenges are handed out at the end of the week. These rewards also include premium coins making it possible for players who can’t spend to purchase the premium battle pass.
With grinding and commitment, you can earn one thousand coins over the course of the season and buy the battle pass before the season ends.

Overwatch 2 Story Missions
Story Missions are a new addition to Overwatch 2. They are player-vs-environment tasks that can be completed with only a limited number of characters. There is a different intro and outro video for each story mission, making them engaging and rich in content.
Hero missions
There are three main rules in hero missions: varied locations, new objectives every time, and different groups of enemies. If you wish to play a hero’s quest, each time you do so, the environment, the goals, and the foes will be different, making the missions more challenging. You will have to choose your team according to the map and enemies to win the game.
Ping system
A new ping system is coming in Overwatch 2, where teammates can communicate with each other in a new way. New commands are added to the chat, and players can ping the locations of enemies to help their teammates.
Item system
This new system is for story missions only, but it’s worth mentioning. The system is similar to PUBG and Apex Legends. You can pick up items temporarily and have to dispose of them after the mission is completed. These items range from barrier fences to grenades and healing stations. Items are divided into tears, and their quality depends on their tier number.
Talent system
Overwatch 2 introduced a new progression system called the talent system. With this system, players can level up their heroes and unlock new abilities. These new abilities will impact their performance in the battle. You can use these abilities in player-vs-environment mode only.
New Heroes
Overwatch 2 is coming up with some heroes that players have been waiting for quite some time now. Along with these new heroes, all the heroes from the previous Overwatch title are also available in the game. Here are the three new and confirmed heroes that are coming with Overwatch 2.
Sojourn
Sojourn is a black Canadian woman who happens to be a mid-range specialist with some pretty solid artillery and mobility skills. She uses a railgun to shoot energy at her enemies. Her ultimate ability is called “Overlock,” which helps her in shooting armor-piercing shots.
Junker Queen
Junker Queen is the ruler of the wasteland, and she comes equipped with a shotgun, mohawk, and battle ax. She is a tank hero who can lead the team out of any difficult situation. Her abilities help her in healing while dealing damage to enemies.
Kiriko
Kiriko is a healer who can also do some damage per second. She is a ninja who hails from Japan, and she was trained by her mother. She uses spiritual objects for her special abilities.
